"Pushkin on the Black Sea coast", 1887
Oil on canvas 212×314
Nikolaev Regional Art Museum named after V. V. Vereshchagin
In the painting "Pushkin on the Black Sea coast" in 1887, the sea is not calm, but it is not a storm, it is not the misfortunes that it brings in the painting "Pushkin's Farewell to the Sea". This is creativity, impulses of thought, emotions, feelings of the poet's soul. The various colors in which the element is painted also suggest the idea of the rich inner world of Pushkin. In his soul, thoughts, creativity shimmers with various colors and shades. Aivazovsky depicted Pushkin by the sea in an extraordinary way.
The sky is one with the sea, one with the poet. The colors are lighter, but all the outflows of the sea are present. Dark blue color, like the height and depth of space, light greenish-gray, as a symbol of hope, open to the future, pink dawn and solemn pink-white clouds.
And the genius itself lies on a rock. In the eyes of his creativity, inspiration, passion. They are directed to the sea distance. He is one with this vast world. The element is in him, and he is in the element. It can be assumed that the sea was an inspiring force for a genius. Aivazovsky in the painting "Pushkin on the Black Sea coast" felt this and masterfully conveyed it on the canvas.
"Pushkin on the Black Sea coast" 1897 — here Pushkin is in the foreground. He stands at full height. A smiling expression, calm, friendly, but not ordinary. There is mystery and depth in the look, kindness and openness in the smile. He has a love relationship with the sea: sincere, reciprocal. It is impossible to describe this love, but it is also impossible not to say about it. Spontaneous deep creative love for the elements.
Pushkin stands in a relaxed and tense pose. He seems to be conducting a creative dialogue with his beloved. One leg is bent at the knee resting on a stone, the other is firmly standing on a stone. The azure clear bright sea only licks the toe of his shoe. But even in this passage, it is majestic.
Aivazovsky used unusual shades when writing the painting "Pushkin on the Black Sea coast". The colors chosen for painting the canvas are amazing: a sea of azure light tone, with a white border of waves, white foam; the same tone in the sky, this tone turns into a darker greenish shade of moss on the rocks; greenish mixes with brown; brown turns into a light brown tone of the rocks. It is important that Pushkin's trousers are light brown. What harmony, what unity and splendor. And the people walking are somewhere far away. The black coat stands out in contrast against the background of warm colors, but He is a genius. This is a star shining against the background of gray life.
